“The View” to Broadcast from Charleston, SC Live
MONDAY, November 10 2003
ABC’s popular morning talk and entertainment program, “The View,” will unveil a series of “firsts” in the program’s seven years on the air. “The View” will not only broadcast on location for one day, but will do the show outdoors, live, Nov. 10, from the campus of The College of Charleston. These announcements were made on today’s live broadcast of “The View” by moderator Meredith Vieira.
These groundbreaking events are part of the sensational grand finale to “The View From Your Hometown” contest sponsored by Quilted Northern. Over the past few months both “The View” and the makers of Quilted Northern Bath Tissue reviewed nominations from coast to coast to find the most caring person, group or hometown in America.
Charleston, SC was selected from among three other finalists – from 15 possible contenders. Grand prize winner Anne Lee and her non-profit organization, “From Darkness to Light,” will be awarded $25,000 from the makers of Quilted Northern.
Guests for the program will be announced in the coming week.
“The View” features a dynamic team of four women who share their daily, no-holds-barred opinions and conversations. The unmatched chemistry of co-hosts Barbara Walters, Meredith Vieira, Star Jones and Joy Behar, is the original forum where real women discuss relevant, everyday issues.
Since its launch, “The View” has received 16 Daytime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Talk Show. The show has received numerous nominations, including six consecutive nominations for Outstanding Daytime Talk Show and Outstanding Talk Show Host. Now in its seventh season, it’s seen live MONDAY-FRIDAY 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon, ET; CLOSED-CAPTIONED; in stereo, TV-14), on ABC.
