Charity Dinner: Mercato, a new Charleston Italian restaurant, is donating 100 percent of the proceeds from its opening tonight to Darkness to Light, a Charleston charity that works to prevent child sexual abuse. The restaurant at 102 N. Market St. will open its doors at 7 p.m. $125. Make reservations at www.darkness2light.org or call 965-5444, ext. 21.
The owners of Mercato are Hank Holliday and Steve and Kat Varn. The executive chef is Jacques Larson, and the general manager is Andy Fallen.
