In recent years, the local Darkness to Light organization has earned much deserved praise - and corporate and governmental sponsorships - for their efforts. In November 2005, their annual "Darkness to Light Gala" under the tents in Marion Square - a celebrity-filled soiree populated by all sorts of fancily-dressed Charlestonians and visitors - raised several hundred thousand dollars for child sexual abuse prevention and awareness. The party has become a highlight of the social circuit, and D2l's Anne Lee has become a national force for sexual abuse awareness.
